How biotechnology helps in converting waste into wealth: A Pakistan perspective.

This pre-publication article explores how biotechnology can transform waste into valuable resources in Pakistan, with particular emphasis on waste-to-energy, biogas production, biofertilizers, biopesticides, microbial fermentation, anaerobic digestion, and other biological approaches to sustainable waste management. The article discusses Pakistan’s growing waste-management challenges and examines the potential of biotechnology to convert agricultural, municipal, kitchen, and animal wastes into useful products such as renewable energy, organic fertilizers, and other value-added resources. It also highlights selected waste-to-value initiatives and emerging biotechnology-based approaches in Pakistan within the broader context of the circular economy. The article aims to raise awareness of biotechnology-driven waste valorization as a pathway toward environmental sustainability, renewable energy generation, resource recovery, green employment, and climate resilience in Pakistan. This record represents a pre-publication version of the article and has not yet been submitted or published as a news article.
