Chiral Anthranyl Bis-sulfoxides with Modular Chiroptical Properties Controlled by an Ionic Stimulus
Abstract New chiral fluorescent bis-sulfoxide receptors based on syn and anti anthracene atropisomers were synthesized. Their coordination complexes for silver(I), sodium(I), and cesium(I) cations were investigated using NMR and chiroptical spectroscopies as well as quantum chemical calculations. Notably, the CPL signals of a pair of (R,R) and (S,S) syn atropisomers were reversibly almost quenched by CsBArF, enabling in situ nearly on/off modulation of the CPL response via an ionic stimulus.
