Hire smart: Apply blue sky strategy for gray sky days

If you ask anyone in my organization what I think our greatest resource is, they may roll their eyes or chuckle, but anyone who works closely enough with me knows my answer: I feel very strongly that our “human resource” is our most important resource. My HR colleagues would add to the conversation by saying organizations are built on people, but the truth is more nuanced; organizations are built on the right people. Skills matter, experience matters, but in a world defined by volatility and constant reinvention, two qualities emerge as the backbone of high‐performing teams: resilience and trustworthiness. Recruiting for them isn’t just a hiring strategy, it's a philosophy of organizational survival.
