A brief study of Tribal Brick Workers: Special reference of Thane district
Abstract- Brick’s manufacturing is an important industry in India. Bricks are very important raw material required in construction. Thousands of construction projects are ongoing in Mumbai Economic zone and thane district. Bricks manufacturers in thane district are primary suppliers of bricks to these construction sites. Large number of tribal communities from thane district are engaged as bricks worker in Bricks manufacturing Industry. These Tribal Brick workers play an important role in the construction industry, providing the foundation for buildings, homes, and other infrastructure projects. Despite their significant contribution, they have very challenging lives. Harsh physical labour, prolong working hours, and limited resources is an everyday issue for these workers. These tribal workers have lack of formal education, which limits their employment opportunities outside the brick industry. These workers Often employed on a seasonal basis, with very low wages, long working hours, and. Due to illiteracy and poor economic condition times, they often exploited by their owners. This article will focus on the working and living conditions of brick workers in the Thane district. This research aims to understand the socio-economic status and problems, occupational health issues, and the impact of their work environment on their overall well-being of Tribal Bricks Wokers. This paper is going to focus on the problems and possible remedies to address the various issues of Tribal Brick Workers. This research will be helpful to the broader discourse on informal labours problems and provides a foundation for policymakers and social organizations to address the challenges faced by brick workers.
