Urodynamics in Neurogenic Bladder, V2.0

Abstract Purpose of Review Urodynamics (UDS) is essential for diagnosing and managing Neurogenic Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction (NLUTD). This review outlines current indications for UDS in NLUTD and explores emerging innovations in the field. Recent Findings New UDS technology includes continuous sensation kinetics, pressure-adjusted metrics for cumulative renal risk prediction, Fast Fourier Transform analysis of detrusor contractions, high-definition urethral pressure profilometry, telemetric ambulatory urodynamic monitoring, contrast-enhanced voiding ultrasonography, dynamic volumetric MRI, and concurrent functional neuroimaging. Summary Traditional UDS remains the cornerstone of NLUTD evaluation, but a paradigm shift toward continuous, objective, and dynamic assessment is underway. Integrating signal processing, mathematical modeling, and real-time neuroimaging will enable precise phenotyping of sensory and motor dysfunctions, supporting individualized therapies that better preserve upper urinary tract health and quality of life.
