Tanakh internal controls

Tanakh does not treat seeing, hearing, knowing, discerning, judging, and walking as interchangeable acts. From Genesis onward, it repeatedly separates sensory reception from the inner judgment that follows. The decisive interpretive divide is therefore not simply whether two readers possess the same text, but whether Yehovah's davar remains the controlling standard as received information moves through the person toward mishpat and derekh. The positive pattern is expressed in לֵב שֹׁמֵעַ (lev shomeaʿ), while its clearest negative counterpart is שְׁרִרוּת לֵב (sherirut lev).
