Environmental SWOT Analysis of Outer Ring Roads in India

Abstract Today, several countries across the world have accepted ring roads as one of the reliable solutions for managing congestion of urban traffic. As ring roads influence local environment, it is necessary to understand their specific effects on the urban landscape. Hence, the present study attempts to understand the environmental effects of outer ring roads in India using SWOT analysis. The study utilises secondary data obtained from various sources including government reports, research papers and reference books. The study reveals that the construction and operation of outer ring roads in India cause both positive and negative effects on the environment.
