SAMHSA celebrates Recovery Month
Recovery Month has a long history. It began more than 35 years ago. There have been problems along the way, such as in 2020, when the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), which funds Recovery Month, backed away (see “After 30 years, SAMHSA walks away from Recovery Month,” ADAW , July 13, 2020, https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/adaw.32770 ). At that time, the nonprofit group Faces & Voices of Recovery took over the management of Recovery Month. Now SAMHSA is officially back, and this year there is a steady stream of weekly themes announced for Recovery Month.
