Molecular profile of aging in men: Transcriptome panel to evaluate 21 mechanisms of aging
This work is a comprehensive roadmap for the development and validation of a PCR panel for assessing the molecular profile of aging in men, which has yet to be implemented. The panel will cover 21 mechanisms of aging and 48 genes and will be deployed in six stages, from design formation to regulatory approval and clinical implementation. The key features of the male panel are determined by two main "turning points" in the aging trajectory — at the age of about 35 and 50 years — as well as the earlier onset and higher rate of transcriptomic shifts associated with a decrease in sex hormone levels. For the nine mechanisms characterized by the greatest heterogeneity and male specificity, it is planned to use three genes each. A comparative analysis of the transcriptomic and epigenetic approaches is to be carried out, which should show the fundamental advantages of gene expression analysis for subsequent comparison and personalized management of aging processes.
