Outreach in Parasitology: Parasites and their amazing diversity, complex life cycles, and impacts on humans (Part 2)
We focused on parasites that are relevant to human and animal health and have global and regional impacts. Participants use the primary tool of parasitologists (i.e., microscopes) to learn about parasite morphology and life cycles. They also apply their newly gained knowledge to diagnose infections. The set of materials required for the microscope demonstrations includes the activity cards (powerpoint files) and a list of permanent slides and specimens for microscope demonstrations with weblinks so they can be purchased (word file). In addition, the diagnostic activities include a test form (PDF) used by the province of Manitoba (Canada) as of 2026.
