Constructing Reality: Logical Closure, Immersion, and Effective Bandwidth as a Cross-Disciplinary Extension of "From Snapshot to Sequence"
Companion paper to "From Snapshot to Sequence" (DOI:https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.22713335 ) This paper is a derivative of the main work "From Snapshot to Sequence: How Physical Bandwidth Shapes Sensory Modalities in Biological and Artificial Intelligence". While the main paper formalizes the effective-bandwidth law in physical channels, this derivative extends the law from physical perception to abstract human experience, introducing the extended concept of an "interface". We propose the central theorem: "Reality is an emergent state produced when a system's internal logical closure reduces the prediction error to zero under the constraint of finite bandwidth." We further derive the corollary: "Unpredictability is the origin of unreality and fear." Crucially, we argue that "reality/safety" and "unreality/fear" are not two independent emotional mechanisms but two poles of the same cognitive axis; excitement is not an independent state but the experience produced by the very switching motion between the two poles. When external rules break the brain's predictive model, the brain faces an unpredictable survival crisis and triggers the primordial unreality and fear alarm; when the system oscillates rapidly between the two poles, neurons discharge heavily and produce excitement. To address the main paper's verification paradox, we treat the cross-individually stable subjective experience of all humanity (N ≈ 8 billion) as data of a "macroscopic natural experiment" that requires no laboratory intervention. We extend the discussion to game design, social systems, AGI safety, and high-dimensional interfaces, and identify the inverse relationship between effective bandwidth and system entropy as the ultimate physical safeguard against the incommensurable uncontrollability of AGI.
