Chromosome‐level genome assembly of Wikstroemia monnula reveals genome evolution and expansion of CesA/Csl gene families related to fiber development
We assembled the chromosome-level genome of the Chinese endemic Wikstroemia monnula (1.32 Gb, 18 chromosomes) and identified 61 CesA/Csl genes. These genes are mainly expanded through dispersed duplication and are largely under purifying selection. Collinearity and Ks analyses suggest a recent lineage-specific whole-genome duplication. This high-quality genome offers a valuable resource for studying fiber formation and cell wall biosynthesis.
