Socio-Cultural Transformation among the Dhangar Community in Solapur District

The Dhangar Community has always had a connection with pastoralism, sheep and goat rearing moving with the seasons traditional jobs, family relationships, cultural activities and groups that work together.. Over time the way of life of the Dhangar Community has changed because of new money situations, more learning, cities growing new tools being used the environment changing and new jobs becoming available. These changes have led to changes in the way the Dhangar Community lives and how they are organized socially and culturally. This study wants to look at the changes happening in the cultural way of life of the Dhangar Community in Solapur district. It pays attention to changes in family setups how people get married, family connections, what jobs people do what they hope to learn what roles men and women play, religious activities, celebrations, traditions what they eat what they wear and how they get along with others in the community. The study also wants to find out how the members of the Dhangar Community deal with traditions and new ways of living. The research will use a method that involves going into the field and getting first-hand information from interviews watching what people do filling out questionnaires and talking with some people from the Dhangar Community. Information from sources will help understand the past how many people there are, the social side and the culture of the Dhangar Community. The study will pay attention to differences between older people and younger people and to what happens in homes where people have changed jobs or moved away. This study expects to show that the changes happening in the Dhangar Community are not about giving up old ways or just taking on new ways. Instead these changes are about adapting and finding a way to mix traditions the way the community sees itself and new goals that people have for their lives. The study could help people understand more about how the lives of people who live by herding animalsre changing. It could also offer ideas for programs and plans, about learning, jobs helping people live better and keeping traditions alive in Solapur district.
