Unveiling the phytochemical profiling and antidiabetic effects of different extracts from ficus thonningii (blume)

Ficus thonningii is used in traditional medicine for the treatment of diarrhoeal, gonorrhoeal, and diabetic conditions. This study evaluated the phytochemical and antidiabetic properties of the plant. The n-hexane, dichloromethane (DCM), and aqueous methanol extracts of F. thonningii leaves were screened for inhibitory activity against the carbohydrate hydrolysing enzymes α-amylase and α-glucosidase, and their metabolite profiles were resolved by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
