History of the study of the frontal sinus anatomy in the age of the Scientific Revolution beginning

It was reported in previous publications that the first scientific publication describing the frontal sinus was made by Alessandro Benedetti (1502, possibly 1497). However, frontal sinus became known to a wide range of doctors and anatomists only after the publication of A. Vesalius’s book (1543). The study of the frontal sinus anatomy was continued by doctors and anatomists in the 16th century, which expanded our knowledge about the structure and function of this organ. This article presents the result of the analysis of scientific publications devoted to the study of the frontal sinus by scientists of the age of the Scientific Revolution (the 17th century), considers the contribution of each of them to the understanding of the anatomy and function of this organ.
