The Affective in Italian/American Cinema: Divergent Forms of Spectatorship

Abstract This article explores the concept of affect and its influence on the spectator's process of “meaning production,” that is, how they interpret film. The personal aspects of “affect theory” provide a broader interpretive field than the text alone might offer if the “persona” is not involved. Certain /signs/ may not be processed with deeper meaning production.
