ASSAY OF BIOCHEMICAL PARAMETERS OF RAT-INGESTED EDIBLE CLAY
This study investigated the effect of edible clay on biochemical parameters of wistar rats using standard biochemical methods. Twelve (12) female wistar rats divided into three (3) groups were used for this study. Group A was the control, while B and C were test groups. The result revealed that, at 7.5g dose of edible clay, the activity of Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) was 34.53mg/dl; while at high dose of 30g, the activity was 36.36mg/dl, while the activity of Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) at 7.5g dose of edible clay was 19.660mg/dl and at high dose of 30g, the activity was 28.151mg/dl. The activity of Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) at 7.5g of edible clay was 13.92mg/dl; while at 30g of edible clay the activity was 23.19mg/dl with respect to control.
