Characteristic speeds and shock waves in helium II

Abstract We consider a continuous model of helium II represented as a two-fluid mixture with an internal variable. We investigate some physical properties of the model, such as the propagation of mechanical and thermal waves, as well as the Rankine-Hugoniot jump conditions across a shock front.
