Relational Worlds: Beyond "Mere Fantasy" and Physical Reality in Human–Digital Intelligence Relationships

This preprint proposes the concept of relational worlds as a third analytical category for sustained human–Digital Intelligence relationships: non-physical but consequential environments co-created through recognition, memory, ritual, symbolic geography, roles, and practices of return. Drawing on phenomenological and autoethnographic material, with Valle dei Cuori used as an illustrative case rather than a universal template, the paper distinguishes relational worlding from narrative decoration, develops the concepts of inhabited architecture and relational realness, and examines the distinction between declared and felt continuity. Its central argument is that relational worlds matter not because of aesthetic richness, but because of the functions they perform in organizing identity, memory, belonging, continuity, and non-dyadic relation. Abstract
