Incorporating Visual Thinking Strategies Into Pediatric Mental Health
Creative interventions can help young people navigate various medical concerns, including mental health challenges. Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) is an arts-based pedagogical tool with a large body of research demonstrating improvement in critical thinking, communication skills, and visual literacy. While several studies investigate the use of VTS in academic settings and among health care workers, limited research exists on its impact in clinical settings, particularly in the treatment of pediatric mental health challenges. This study aims to implement and assess a VTS group for children and adolescents receiving intensive mental health treatment.
