Closed-Loop Per-Dose Readiness Verification for Pharmaceutical Suspensions: A Framework for Measurement-Gated Dispensing
This preprint presents a conceptual closed-loop framework for per-dose readiness verification and dispensing authorization of multidose pharmaceutical suspensions. The framework addresses the problem that a nominally correct medication dose may not correspond to an accurately delivered dose when the physical state of a suspension at the time of administration is unsuitable for reliable dispensing. The proposed architecture combines current-state measurement of the pharmaceutical suspension, evaluation against predefined readiness criteria, corrective action when a non-ready state is detected, post-correction verification, and machine-enforceable authorization of a bounded dispensing event only after qualifying readiness has been established. Following dispensing, the authorization is consumed, reset, or invalidated, requiring a new readiness determination for a subsequent dose. The framework is intended as an engineering and research architecture rather than a clinically validated medical device. Specific sensing modalities, readiness thresholds, corrective mechanisms, and dispensing implementations may vary according to formulation and use context. Experimental validation will be required to determine analytical performance, formulation-specific thresholds, dispensing accuracy, usability, and clinical relevance. The underlying technical architecture is the subject of a U.S. provisional patent application filed on September 9, 2026.
