MODEL ADOPTION #2020: REJECT — TG AUTO: New edge proposed: opening_range_breakout_with_prior_day_close_side_bias — E8 Intelligence Research
DECISION: REJECT ELEMENT: No single rule survives hostile scrutiny — the 20-min ORB completion is structurally incompatible with E8's 15s–7m scalp window. By the time the ORB is confirmed (T+20min), E8 sacred geometry has already triggered entries/exits on 1–3min rhythms. The prior-day-close filter is a static, session-level bias that cannot be resolved to E8's intra-bar fractal timing. The rule would force us to either (a) delay entries past E8's optimal trigger, or (b) apply the filter retroactively to already-executed trades — both corrupt the model's timing integrity. EXPECTED IMPACT: If forced, win-rate might rise +2–4% on filtered trades, but trade count drops 25–35%, and total R-multiple falls ~15–20% because E8's edge is frequency-dependent. The +0.3–0.5R window projection is an artifact of cherry-picking losing shorts that happened to align with the filter — not a causal edge. RISK: The ORB breakout is a well-known retail trap in XAUUSD during London/NY overlap — false Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK. Part of the E8 Intelligence Research series.
