Two new Eriophyid species (Acari: Eriophyoidea) from Maragheh County, Iran

During the study of Eriophyoid mites fauna of Maragheh region, East Azerbaijan, Iran, two new species were found, described, and illustrated: Aceria maraghensis Lotfollahi et Yousefnezhad sp. nov. vagrant on Rubia tinctorum L. (Rubiaceae) in Ghiyamatabad village and Thamnacus plantaginis Lotfollahi et Yousefnezhad sp. nov. vagrant on Plantago sp. (Plantaginaceae) in Karajabad village. This is a new record of genus Thamnacus in Iran and a new record of Thamnacus species on plants of the family Plantaginaceae of the world. A list of Eriophyoid mite species collected on Rubiaceae and Plantaginaceae in Iran and their provincial records, a list of Thamnacus mite species of the world and their type host, type localities and relation to the host plants, and a key of Thamnacus species of the world are provided herein.
