Between Autonomy and Dependency: The Territorialisation of Agroecology in the Colombian Peasant Reserve Zones
ABSTRACT Peasant movements employ a spectrum of politico‐economic strategies for territorialising agroecology, ranging from autonomy to (inter)dependency. To substantiate this argument, I draw on qualitative fieldwork and historical analysis to examine the Colombian Peasant Reserve Zone movement's strategies for territorialising agroecology at both the national and local levels. By analysing these cases, I demonstrate how both self‐organisation and negotiated dependent social relations with the state, the market and development institutions are central to territorialising agroecology in peasant territories.
