A Unity‐Power‐Factor Wireless Power Receiver With Near‐Input‐Frequency Switching and Inherent Load‐Adaptability
ABSTRACT This article proposes an adaptive power factor correction (PFC) topology for the receiver side of wireless power transfer (WPT) systems operating under uncertain load conditions. By integrating a magnetically controlled variable inductor with active switching, the proposed scheme achieves automatic impedance matching to maintain high power factor energy transmission. A dedicated control strategy is developed that allows the switches to operate at a frequency proximal to the system's resonant frequency, significantly mitigating the high‐switching‐frequency requirements and associated losses typical of conventional active PFC techniques. Furthermore, the proposed topology exhibits strong robustness against variations in the resonant network's loaded quality factor () induced by load fluctuations, ensuring stable operation. Experimental validation using a 100‐ prototype confirms the efficacy of the proposed system, achieving a power factor consistently exceeding 0.98 across the entire tested load range.
