The Draft Genome Analysis of Psychrobacter cryohalolentis (Pseudomonadales: Moraxellaceae) from Türkiye
Abstract In this study, the draft genome of Psychrobacter cryohalolentis (Psy1) was analyzed, and genetic differences within the species were examined. The Psy1 genome has a G + C content of 42.26%, is 3.13 Mb long, and consists of 30 contigs. The genome contains 2592 CDSs, 42 tRNAs, 5 ncRNAs, 7 tmRNAs, and 3 rRNAs. Genomic comparisons indicate that the strain belongs to the species Psychrobacter cryohalolentis and is a geographically distinct strain, as the ANI (97%), AAI (96.8%), and dDDH (d4, 71%) values of Psy1 exceeded the species thresholds. There is no plasmid in the Psy1 genome, but insertion sequences belonging to the IS982, IS256, and IS3 families appear to be present in the genome. Phylogenetic analysis showed that Psy1 shares 100% identity with the type strain K5 and clusters together. Since this strain is both psychrotolerant and halotolerant, the gene families in the genome that contribute to adaptation to these conditions were examined. The Psy1 contains two cold shock proteins (cspC (1) and cspC (2)), whereas the type strain K5 contains five (Pcryo-1475, Pcryo-2133, Pcryo-0321, Pcryo-0400, and Pcryo-0526); however, their amino acid sequences are 100% identical. Both genomes also harbor four proline biosynthesis genes (proB, proS, proA, and proC), which contribute to salinity tolerance. Comparative analysis revealed 99% amino acid identity for proB, proS, and proA, while proC showed 97.83%, recA 97.73%, and the trehalose biosynthesis gene otsB 96.25% similarity. These findings reveal the genetic diversity and potential adaptive properties of the Turkish strain and contribute to the understanding of P. cryohalolentis’ survival strategies in diverse ecological environments.
