Generative AI in heritage architecture: cultural interpretation, environmental implications, and governance
This study critically examines how generative artificial intelligence (AI) is framed in heritage architecture through a systematic review of 67 publications. The analysis identifies recurring limitations in addressing cultural interpretation, environmental implications, and governance. A conceptual framework, not yet empirically validated, is proposed to support context-sensitive and responsible integration of AI in heritage architecture, emphasizing the need for interpretative, evaluative, and policy-aligned approaches in heritage-related design and decision-making processes.
