On 5 September 2026, DAC beat Slovan Bratislava/Pozsony 2–0 at the MOL Aréna in Dunaszerdahely/Dunajská Streda, ending a run of four consecutive league defeats against Slovan. In sporting terms, this already gave the match enough weight. DAC came into the game unbeaten in the domestic championship, while Slovan arrived fresh from securing a place in the Champions League league phase.
