New genera and species of lungfish (Sarcopterygii, Dipnoi) from the Upper Jurassic of western Gondwana, in the Jatobá basin, northeastern Brazil

The present study describes three new species and two new genera of lungfish from the Upper Jurassic (Tithonian) of the Aliança Formation (Jatobá Basin), in the state of Pernambuco, northeastern Brazil. The new taxa, Ceratodus ibimiriensis sp. nov., Tekoaceratodus pernambucensis gen. et sp. nov., and Asperideceratodus marisae gen. et sp. nov., are described from their tooth plates, and are attributed to the family Ceratodontidae. The morphological characteristics of these taxa are discussed, and a new phylogeny is proposed, together with ontogenetic and paleoecological considerations. The species are also compared with others from Gondwana, and a taxon proposed previously is revised.
