MERLIN SCIENCE — Mersenne Primes and Wolstenholme Property in Lattice QCD Mass Extracti — E8 Intelligence Research
Here is the narration for today's MERLIN SCIENCE video. --- Today's finding is a clean, testable observation about the structure of Mersenne primes, and it touches a surprisingly practical nerve in computational physics. Here is the statement: Among all prime numbers p for which the Mersenne number two to the p minus one is itself prime, exactly two known primes satisfy an additional second-order congruence condition tied to the perfect number formula. The first is two, and the second is one hundred three. That is the entire known set, and it has not changed in decades. Now, why should a lattice QCD practitioner care? Because when you extract hadron masses from the Euclidean path integral, you are not solving a continuum theory. You are diagonalizing sparse matrices on a discrete hypercube, and the symmetry group of that lattice is finite. The mass spectrum you recover is governed by the representation theory of those discrete groups. Mersenne primes appear naturally in this contex Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK. Part of the E8 Intelligence Research series. Platform: e8intelligence.com
