Hydromechanical model of cambium growth

We implement a geometric division rule producing periclinal and anticlinal divisions.A cell divides periclinally if its aspect ratio exceeds 0.5, otherwise anticlinally.Division occurs when anticlinal length reaches 10 µm.This ensures bounded cambial cell size (5-10 µm) and systematic formation of new radial rows (contrary to a criterion on the cell area).

Abstract

We implement a geometric division rule producing periclinal and anticlinal divisions.A cell divides periclinally if its aspect ratio exceeds 0.5, otherwise anticlinally.Division occurs when anticlinal length reaches 10 µm.This ensures bounded cambial cell size (5-10 µm) and systematic formation of new radial rows (contrary to a criterion on the cell area).
