Antibiotic Misuse Among University Students in China: A Critical Analysis, with a Proposed Systematic Review Protocol on Substance Abuse and Bipolar Disorder Among Nigerian Youth
This paper is presented in two parts. The first is a critical appraisal, using Cormack's Critiquing Framework, of a cross- sectional survey examining antibiotic misuse among university students in developed and less developed provinces of China, and a discussion of how the study's findings could inform antimicrobial resistance policy. The second is a systematic review protocol proposing an investigation into substance abuse among youth with bipolar disorder in Nigeria, setting out the review's objectives, search strategy, and inclusion and exclusion criteria, in line with PROSPERO registration standards. Together, the two sections demonstrate critical evaluation of published health research alongside the design of a rigorous review protocol addressing a significant public health concern in Nigeria. Keywords: antibiotic misuse; antimicrobial resistance; critical appraisal; systematic review protocol; substance abuse; bipolar disorder; Nigeria; China; public health
