The Duality of the Mind: Integrating Philosophical Paradigms with Modern Behaviorism
This paper examines the profound influence of the human mentality on behavioral modification, positing the mind as a significant pivotal instrument that it capable of altering one’s reality. The primary objective is to investigate the complex link between conscious and subconscious cognition and its direct impact on behaviorism. Initiating a theoretical analysis framework, the study integrates modern psychological constructs with cultural and philosophical paradigms, specifically examining the Cherokee legend of the two wolves and the Chinese philosophy of Yin-Yang. The discussion also delineates how navigating internal conflicts and emotional chaos can facilitate an individual’s departure from their “comfort-zone” and assist in cultivating a protective personal “aura”. Furthermore, the paper embodies perspective from Ralph Waldo Emerson and Elizabeth Gilbert to substantiate the necessity of self-responsibility, inner peace, and emotional regulation. Ultimately, the research concludes that actualizing awareness of human duality and the deliberate nurture of positive cognitive patterns are essential for the mind to adapt and comprehend its reality.
