When Future Teachers Learn to Understand Learners: An Educational Psychology-Based Intervention
This study examines an educational intervention designed to strengthen the professional preparation of prospective educators through the integration of human resource development and educational psychology. The study aims to demonstrate how interactive learning experiences can broaden prospective educators’ understanding of learner characteristics, motivation, emotional conditions, communication, and classroom needs. The intervention involved undergraduate students at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) and employed interactive seminars, case studies, group discussions, experience sharing, and reflective activities. Findings indicate increased awareness of professional competencies, learner diversity, psychological factors affecting learning, and the importance of adaptive and empathetic instructional responses. The study concludes by highlighting implications for professional preparation, continuous development, and learner-oriented educational practice.
