Abstract

English Abstract:This paper offers a critical re-evaluation of the conventional understanding of dharma (religion/spiritual path). It argues that dharma was never intended as achievement, institutional power, or personal identity. Rather, it originated as a signpost—an honest pointer left by those who had deeply lived life's fundamental questions: “Who am I?”, “What is life?”, “What is death?”, and “What does it mean to exist?” Work and social roles are necessary, yet when they become the measure of human worth or spiritual superiority, a profound error begins. Drawing on critical sociology of religion, studies of guru authority, and the philosophy of epistemic humility, the paper contends that the genuine function of dharma is to free human beings from fear, to orient consciousness toward existence itself, and to accept responsibility toward the larger order of being. Knowledge is never complete; a residual 1% of the unknown remains. Claiming final truth is itself a form of ignorance, while remaining open to possibility is the mark of living awareness. The paper concludes that dharma is not a right or a status, but accountability to existence. Vedanta 2.0 Context: This paper is part of Vedanta 2.0 LIFE - Jeevan Ko Jiyo Abhi series. Related works include Cosmic Seed CS-20 model (Potential → Receptivity → Containment → Relationship → Density → Center → Transformation → Emergence → Form → Nourishment → Growth → Differentiation → Expansion → Experience → Limitation → Return → Dissolution → New Potential) and analysis of two paths: 'Astitva ke saath behna' vs 'Astitva ko todkar jeetna'.
