AI driven adaptive gamification for sustainable workforce development in corporate training

In today’s competitive world, gamification has been widely used to enhance engagement in corporate training. However, gamification often relies on fixed rewards and static challenges, which generate only short-term engagement and fail to sustain intrinsic motivation. This paper explores how AI-driven adaptive gamification address the limitations by personalizing learning experiences through real-time feedback and dynamic challenge adjustment. As per existing literature, this study proposes a theoretically grounded conceptual framework for AI-driven adaptivity in corporate training. It explains how AI-driven gamification enhance autonomy, competence and relatedness. It also considers how AI-driven gamification enhance autonomy, competence and relatedness. It also considers how adaptive mechanisms help optimal skill–challenge balance, drawing on Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and Flow Theory. The proposed framework conceptualises sustainable employee development through ongoing, adaptive, and personalized learning pathways, enabling continuous learning, long-term engagement, and adaptive skill enhancement. The proposed framework has the potential to support organisational initiatives aligned with global sustainability priorities by aligning AI-driven adaptive gamification with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), by promoting long- term learning and workforce resilience in corporate environments.
