Si(OTeF 5 ) 4 – A Strong, Homoleptic Pentafluoroorthotellurate‐Based Lewis Superacidic Silane

ABSTRACT In this work, we present the characterization of Si(OTeF 5 ) 4 and its utilization as a Lewis acid. Therefore, the adduct formation toward Si(OTeF 5 ) 4 L 2 (L = 4‐(dimethylamino)pyridine)), Si(OTeF 5 ) 4 L (L = 2,2’‐bipyridine, 1,10‐phenanthroline) and [NEt 4 ] 2 [Si(OTeF 5 ) 6 ] was studied. Furthermore, we compare its Lewis acidity to that of other homoleptic silanes with electron‐withdrawing ligands.
