The personal is political - and the political is personal: A person-centred approach to the political sphere

This article describes the meeting of two spheres - the therapeutic sphere with its focus on healing the psyche - the internal, intra-psychic world - and the political sphere of the external, social, civic world. In describing this encounter between the psyche and the social, the article develops two directions of movement - the politicisation of the personal and the personalising of the political. This provides a frame for discussions developing a person-centred approach (PCA) to understanding the relation between these two, often separated spheres and, particularly, to understanding the impact of local, national and international events.
