International Experience and the Development of the Gas Industry in the Azerbaijan SSR: Materials of the 10th International Gas Congress in Hamburg (1967) in the Glavgaz of the AzSSR Documents from the Personal Archive of A. M. A. Abdullaev
This archival study examines the integration of international experience into the development of the gas industry in the Azerbaijan SSR during the late 1960s, focusing on materials from the personal collection of Abutalib Mir Aga oglu Abdullaev, Head of Glavgaz under the Ministry of Communal Economy of the AzSSR. Centered around an official 1968 correspondence and the proceedings of the 10th International Gas Congress in Hamburg (1967) forwarded by the USSR Scientific and Technical Society of the Oil and Gas Industry (TsP NTO NGP), the paper analyzes how republican engineering elites actively studied foreign technological achievements in gas distribution, underground storage, network safety, and domestic gas appliance utilization. The document complex demonstrates that Soviet Azerbaijan's municipal and gas sector operated as an active subject of technological modernization rather than a passive recipient of central directives.
