OJT vs. Off-JT for entrepreneurs: Effects on start-up financing and business performance
This paper examines how entrepreneurial training in the form of On-the-Job Training (OJT) and Off-the-Job Training (Off-JT) affects start-up financing and business performance using a survey of 7,680 new firms in Japan. The major findings of this paper are as follows. First, OJT has positive effects on both start-up financing and business performance. Second, Off-JT has only limited effects on these outcomes. Third, the positive effects of OJT can be observed even when entrepreneurs do not receive Off-JT.
