Minimally invasive topological light manipulation with lensless fiber endomicroscope

Topological light fields, with their robust properties, offer transformative potential across photonics. However, achieving flexible manipulation and practical deployment of topological light fields in hard-to-reach areas remains challenging. To overcome this limitation, we propose an adaptive topological light endoscopic system (ATLES) and pioneer an integrated transceiver design based on a multi-core fiber, enabling minimally invasive detection with topological light field manipulation. Leveraging the ATLES framework, we reconfigure a 10,000-core fiber into a high-resolution modulator for phase, amplitude, and coherence control. This enables the on-demand creation of both coherent and incoherent topological light fields, tailored in their structures, directly from a bare fiber tip of just 350 μm in diameter. We demonstrate the power of this approach by performing highly precise rotational velocity measurements under endoscopic conditions, achieving a relative error below 0.055%. Our work establishes a versatile platform for the implementation of topological photonics in hard-to-reach areas, thereby paving the way for their application in biomedical imaging and optical computing. This study presents a 350 μm-wide lensless fiber endoscope that creates tailored topological light and measures rotation with relative errors below 0.055%, enabling precise optical control and sensing in hard-to-reach spaces.
