A New Species and a New Record of Coprinopsis ( Psathyrellaceae ) From Pakistan

During macrofungal surveys conducted in Dera Ghazi Khan, Pakistan, in 2023 and 2024, specimens of Coprinopsis were collected. Detailed morphoanatomical examinations combined with molecular analyses of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and large subunit (28S) sequences, confirmed Coprinopsis deraghaziensis sp. nov. as a novel taxon, and C. cothurnata , as a new record for Pakistan. Maximum likelihood phylogenetic analysis placed C. deraghaziensis within section Quartoconatae , forming an independent monophyletic lineage, while C. cothurnata was resolved within section Niveae . Diagnostic characters, detailed morpho‐anatomical descriptions, photographs of basidiocarps, line drawings of microscopic features, and comparisons with morphologically and phylogenetically similar species are provided. A taxonomic key to all currently known species of Coprinopsis from Pakistan is also presented.
