Livelihood sources, diversification strategies and persistent challenges for camp-living refugees in India

This study analyses livelihood sources, diversification strategies, and evolving livelihood challenges shaping the livelihoods of Sri Lankan Tamil camp-living refugees in Tamil Nadu, India. The study found that the substantial reliance on a combination of wage labour and government assistance and a discernible shift toward diversified livelihoods that enhance financial autonomy, however, regulatory restrictions, limited access to credit, and transport constraints, especially in rural areas, continue to impede sustainable livelihood development.
