Stress in High School Students and Coping Strategies

Under conditions of an intensive educational process and high academic expectations, the challenges associated with stress among high school students are becoming increasingly acute. Exam preparation, heavy academic workloads, the necessity of choosing a future career path, and high social expectations collectively elevate emotional tension, which in turn diminishes students' motivation and academic performance. This study examines stress reduction techniques in high school students and identifies the most effective coping mechanisms through theoretical literature review and empirical survey analysis at the Secondary School at the Embassy of Russia in France. Framed as an empirical pilot study (N=14), the results demonstrate a high prevalence of elevated stress among adolescents and highlight a key discrepancy between short-term perceived coping efficacy and long-term stress mitigation.
