Entropic Gravity and Temporal Gradients : A Thermodynamic Reading of the Chronon Tempo Covector
This article investigates whether thermodynamic variables can be experimentally related to gauge-safe Chronon tempo gradients without identifying gravity, entropy, decoherence and temporal cadence by definition. The discussion is motivated by thermodynamic approaches to spacetime, including local-horizon thermodynamics and entropic-gravity proposals, but these frameworks are treated as conceptual motivation rather than evidence for the Chronon Field. The central Chronon quantity is the gauge-safe covector Xμ=∇μlnΦ̂, where Φ̂=Φ/Φ₀. Absolute Φ remains unobservable. The temporal and spatial components of this gradient can be decomposed relative to an operational observer congruence without introducing a preferred reference frame or modifying the geometry of General Relativity. Thermodynamics is kept independent through an entropy current sμ satisfying ∇μsμ=σ≥0. The paper explicitly rejects an automatic identification between entropy production σ and the Chronon tempo gradient. Any relationship between the two must instead be introduced as a protocol-dependent constitutive hypothesis and tested statistically after conventional thermal, gravitational, quantum and instrumental pathways have been modeled. In the weak-field regime, the standard GR contribution is removed through χΦ=lnΦ̂−U/c². The registered optical-clock residual remains the principal metrological bridge, while quantum and thermodynamic channels are treated as orthogonal future extensions. The article remains C0. It provides a vocabulary, admissible observables, constitutive-test architecture and falsification conditions for future joint thermodynamic, clock and coherence experiments, without claiming that entropy or gravity generates the Chronon Field.
