Utility of the Mantis™ clip to facilitate exposure and resection of a lesion on the ileocecal valve

Abstract The endoscopic resection of complex colorectal lesions presents a significant technical challenge, particularly for those located on the ileocecal valve, as this structure is mobile in some cases and may be difficult to access and to achieve stable exposure. Suboptimal exposure is a risk factor for incomplete resection and local recurrence. To overcome these difficulties, endoscopists rely on various techniques. We present the clinical case of a female patient with an adenomatous lesion on the ileocecal valve, whose challenging exposure was successfully resolved using the Mantis™ clip as a traction device. This adjustable and repositionable clip, primarily designed for tissue approximation and defect closure, proved to be an effective tool for optimizing lesion exposure, enabling a complete and precise endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR).
