Albergues y casas de acogida en la Iglesia de América Latina. Perspectivas teológicas, pastorales y éticas en tiempos de exclusión
This chapter examines the pastoral and ministerial work of the Catholic Church in Latin America through its migrant shelters, within the broader context of migration shaped by the anti-immigrant policies implemented by the U.S. administration in January 2025. It draws on theological, pastoral, and ethical perspectives to illuminate the social and humanitarian consequences of forced mobility and its principal effects on migrant populations. Employing an interdisciplinary approach and documentary-hermeneutical analysis, this study seeks to understand these consequences in depth. Finally, the author presents Christian solidarity and the Church’s mission as a way to face the current migration crisis, highlighting their humanitarian, socio-communitarian, and political-structural dimensions.
