Soil Metagenomic Profiling of Yingwuzhou Coastal Wetland in Jinshan, Shanghai
Yingwuzhou Ecological Wetland is located on the northern shore of Hangzhou Bay in Jinshan District, Shanghai. Constructed in 2016, it is an urban coastal salt marsh wetland covering approximately 23.2 hectares, comprising four core functional zones: purification display area, salt marsh restoration area, ecological corridor slow-flow area, and natural wetland bird-attracting area. This project employs shotgun metagenomic sequencing to profile soil microbial communities across different functional zones of Yingwuzhou Wetland. The objectives are to characterize the taxonomic composition and community structure of soil microorganisms, annotating functional genes and identify metabolic pathways related to carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus cycling. This project compare spatial variations in microbial communities among functional zones and investigate the driving effects of vegetation type, hydrological conditions, and soil physicochemical factors. This project assess the recovery status and ecological functions of soil microbial communities after nearly a decade of ecological restoration. The metagenomic data generated will provide foundational insights into the microbial mechanisms underlying coastal wetland restoration, support long-term monitoring and adaptive management of wetlands along Hangzhou Bay, and contribute to the conservation and ecosystem service assessment of urban coastal wetlands.
