IAFA 333 CREAM: AN EVIDENCE-BASED REVIEW OF AYURVEDIC PERSPECTIVES, PHYTOCHEMISTRY AND CLINICAL APPLICATIONS

Background: Chronic dermatological disorders such as eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, allergic dermatitis, fungal infections, and xerotic skin diseases significantly affect quality of life owing to persistent inflammation, recurrent episodes, impaired skin barrier function, and psychosocial distress. Although topical corticosteroids, calcineurin inhibitors, and antifungal agents remain the mainstay of treatment, prolonged use is often associated with adverse effects including skin atrophy, tachyphylaxis, pigmentary alterations, local irritation, and frequent relapse after discontinuation. Consequently, there is increasing interest in evidence-based herbal topical formulations that combine efficacy with improved long-term safety. Ayurveda describes most chronic skin disorders under the broad spectrum of Kushtha and Twak Vikara, emphasizing correction of Dosha imbalance, purification of Rakta, restoration of tissue integrity, and promotion of natural skin healing. IAFA 333 Cream is a proprietary Ayurvedic polyherbal topical formulation developed for the management of various inflammatory and pigmentary skin disorders. Despite its growing clinical use, a comprehensive scientific review integrating Ayurvedic concepts, phytochemistry, pharmacological evidence, and published clinical observations has not yet been reported. Aim: To comprehensively review the Ayurvedic perspectives, phytochemical composition, pharmacological mechanisms, and available clinical evidence regarding the therapeutic applications of IAFA 333 Cream in dermatological disorders.
