Binary Code Framework: Analysis Tool
This record contains Version 1.0 of the Analysis Tool of the Binary Code Framework, a theory-guided and rule-based framework for the analysis of dehumanizing discourse. The Analysis Tool operationalizes the framework through a structured, four-level category system. Level 1 reconstructs in-group/out-group polarity and border regimes. Level 2 identifies recurrent dehumanizing narrative motifs, container forms, collective symbols, and related semantic condensations. Level 3 specifies historically and socially situated target-group ideologies, including racism, antisemitism, sexism, authoritarianism, ableism, classism, and related formations. Level 4 identifies social and rhetorical techniques through which devaluation can be connected to mobilization, domination, exclusion, or violence. The Tool consists of detailed definitions, AI-compatible definitions, Boolean and rule-based decision chains, catalogues of linguistic indicators, and cross-level relations. It is intended to make analytical procedures traceable, cross-checkable, and open to systematic revision without reducing dehumanization to surface-level toxicity classification. Together with the companion Preamble, the Analysis Tool forms the Binary Code Framework. The Preamble establishes the methodological, ethical, and documentation requirements governing the Tool’s use, interpretation, quality assurance, and version control. This record is version-controlled. Its metadata are publicly accessible; the deposited files are restricted. Scholarly access requests may be considered in accordance with the framework’s quality-assurance, version-governance, and responsible-use procedures.
